Bonfire Radicals + Veair / Folk, Live Music, Rock

An unstoppable force, fresh faced and emerging from Birmingham’s exciting Folk/World scene, The Bonfire Radicals is the coming together of eight inspired and talented instrumentalists. They intelligently weave together Klezmer inspired woodwind, Scottish born and bred fiddles, hard hitting guitar and bass, and global beats from the percussion into a new global sound world.

It all began in 2010 when percussionists Lydia Glanville and George Kirkham decided to bring together a group of diverse players with the aim of creating something different. A few jam sessions later, and the offer a gig supporting Bellowhead’s Rachael McShane at Moseley Folk Festival’s legendary Lunar Society sessions, The Bonfire Radicals were born.

Since then the band has gone from strength to strength, they recorded their first Demo CD in spring 2011 and have gigs at Moseley Folk Festival and the main stage of Symphony Hall under their belts. Watch this space.

Veair is a four-piece indie alternate band from Oxfordshire formed in the August of 2014. The band consists of Will Henshaw on vocals, Charlie Bullock on guitar, Harry Vass on bass and Tom Ball on Drums.

Charlie and Will took to writing songs as a band first with ‘The Room Next Door’ and with the help of Matt Watson and Jess Freshwater wrote the E.P ‘Cold as a Whisper’. It was during their time as The Room Next Door where they became competent live performers and also attracted the attention of Eiren from Cahoots Music. Due to artistic differences and the lack of finding time to rehearse The Room Next Door decided to part, with Charlie and Will taking the decision to continue writing alongside pushing with the E.P.

Harry joined Veair to play bass after switching over from guitar to join his secondary school friends with the hopes of exploring music further. Tom had already played alongside Charlie and Will in the cover band ‘State the Obvious’ and due to also being a childhood friend of the rest of the band as well as an accomplished musician, was a great addition.

With the line up in place Veair took a couple of weeks to slightly adjust the E.P to Tom and Harry’s personal playing styles before Eiren (after hearing the E.P was finished) started to push further for the bands signature to Cahoots Music.
