EDINBURGH FESTIVAL PREVIEW DOUBLE HEADER SPECIAL

Nathan Caton

‘Laidback, on-the-nose material, chopping down fools of all colours, both in day-to-day life and in the media’ – The Guardian

Former Chortle Student Comedian of the Year as seen on ‘Mock The Week’, ‘The World Stands Up’, ‘FHM Stand Up Hero’, ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’, ‘Little Miss Joycelyn’, ‘Comedy Cuts’ and his own sketch show on Comedy Central (which earned him a Hotshot award from Broadcast magazine for his writing). All this plus a 6 part Radio 4 show ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’. He’s instantly likeable, charismatic and an incredibly slick performer with a natural stage presence.

Tom Toal

‘Star of the first half was undoubtedly the charmingly ironic Tom Toal. T-Squared, as he calls himself in one of several supposedly hip third-person nicknames, has a quirky outlook and the gags to match. This quarter-Polish comic is softly endearing – enough to be able to get away with the story of a ‘barely legal’ girlfriend without it sounding creepy – and he has a fine sense of comic timing and rhythm, with one especially well-judged line causing a well-deserved eruption of laughter. The T-Dog is certainly one of the most promising of today’s emerging comics’ – Chortle.

One of comedy’s rising stars with his undeniable charm and genuine depth of feeling. As seen on Channel 4’s “Eye Spy”, he performed his debut show ‘On The Scrapheap’ about the break-up of his 6 year relationship at the Edinburgh and Leicester Festivals in 2010 achieving widespread acclaim and reviews.

The follow up ‘Rom-Coms and Revolutions’ followed in similar vein playing to a complete sell out audience for the full run.

In 2013 he performed at The Comedy Reserve with The Pleasance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He will be previewing material from his forthcoming Edinburgh show ‘Prequel’.

Compere – Anthony J. Brown

“Dark quips and relentlessly witty audience-goading ad-libbing from a compelling host” – City Life

Jongleurs Award Winner, BBC New Comedy Award Runner-up.
