Smug Roberts

‘A comedy maestro… the pace, emphasis and rhythm of his delivery is impeccable. A rock-solid act guaranteed to entertain’ – City Life

As seen in ‘Phoenix Nights’, ‘That Peter Kay Thing’, ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’, ‘Cold Feet’ and the Ken Loach film ‘Looking For Eric’. Described by Metro as ‘an act everyone deserves to see at least once’, Smug is a venerated veteran of the British comedy circuit. He’s a headline act all over the U.K and is regarded as something of a cult hero in his native Manchester and is a man with genuinely funny bones, able to provoke peals of laughter from a quirky colloquialism or a nonplussed expression, but it is the sheer imagination of his storytelling where he really shines. Anecdotes from his home life as a cuckolded house husband with two teenage kids on hormonal rampage are laced with brilliant punchlines and surreal tangents, including the welcome appearance of a talking dog. He’s also had a minor chart hit with ‘Meat Pie Sausage Roll’ a song that began its life as a comedy routine by Smug on local radio and made it to the heady heights of number 67 in June 1998. Quite the Renaissance man.

Andrew McBurney

‘His magnificently wretched stage persona gave his material an emotionally bedraggled edge. The concept of comedy as therapy is nothing new, but he appears on the verge of tears, desperately trying to hold it together, as he revealed he has just been dumped. That raw heartache defined what should have been material, giving every funny line a pathos-laden twist. We’ll see more of him’ – Chortle

‘So You Think You’re Funny’ Finalist 2013

‘Laughing Horse Best New Act’ Finalist 2013

West Midlands Comedy Forum Awards Best Comedian 2013

Winner – Foster’s Levity Festival Best Act 2013

Best Newcomer 2012 and Best Joke 2012 – WMCF Awards

Compere – Anthony J Brown

‘Hilarious ad-libs and wicked one-liners from an infectiously funny performer’ – The List

Clad in a sartorially edifying manner, like a dapper and dandy funeral director, Anthony cuts a unique on-stage presence with humour blacker than a raven that’s slammed it’s claw in a coffin lid. Jongleurs/Metro “Stand & Deliver” Award winner and former BBC New Comedy Award Runner-up he is a regular contributor to Radio 2’s “The Arthur Smith Lectures”. As seen on ‘The Stand Up Show’ and ‘Phoenix Nights’.

Danny Clives

‘A great new comic, imagine Simon Amstell with post traumatic stress disorder’ – Huzzah Comedy

Damien Ryan

‘His style is blunt, direct, borderline bad-taste and really quite brilliant’ – Yorkshirecoastcomedy.co.uk
