3 Eyed Fox / Folk, Live Music

Fri 7Nov
10:00 PM

Note: This event has finished

3 Eyed Fox formed in October 2010 after Jonny Wallis (Vocals) placed an advert on a musician’s forum, looking to form a Folk/Rock band. Rich Kirton (Guitar) was the first to reply quickly followed by Rachael Yeomans (Fiddle). After an initial informal meet up it soon became clear that the 3 clicked and the first rehearsal followed soon after.

The first rehearsal was a nervous one but after trying a cover version of the Levellers ‘Another man’s cause’ they realised they had their own unique sound. In the months leading up to Christmas more song’s came together and the band dynamics were experimented with, although they eventually settled with what we know today.

The name ‘3 Eyed Fox’ came completely by accident. After coming up with some bizarre yet wonderful names, it was a former friend of the band who after visiting a fair noticed a sign for a animal ‘Freak show’ (I say this with a somewhat heavy heart, as we believe no living being should be treated in this manner). The ‘show’ was advertising a three eyed fox. The name was loved by all and stuck

In late January the band decided it was time to try out some of their ‘Foxyfied’ material on the public and after an evening rehearsal trolled round to an open mic night in Nottingham. After a somewhat apprehensive performance of ‘Golden Green’, ‘Workers Song’ and ‘Another Man’s Cause’, the audience loved them. More open mic nights followed.

The band played their first Gig in March 2010 at the Sherwood Manor in Nottingham, this was however a warm up for the following night at Moog in Nottingham, which was their first full performance.

Since then the band have enjoyed playing countless shows across the East Midlands and further, including supporting 3 Daft Monkeys at the Nottingham Bodega on their UK tour and Jonn Gomm, guitar extraordinaire. In 2012 3 Eyed Fox played at their second “The Folkthing Festival” which in the build-up to played live on BBC Radio Nottingham.

3 Eyed Fox really are a band to look out for in 2012.
