Nominated by the British Blues Awards for Best Original Song and Best Instrumentalist of 2012
Always complimented on their harmonies, Rob and Sarah accidentally stumbled across something that worked for them when a student of Rob’s introduced them to Dave Rawlings.

They chose to do one of his numbers at a gig the following day, and of all the songs they played, this was the one that they both lost themselves in and had those “moments” that musicians have when everything just works.

… Building on that, the duo got writing, and researching the genres of Americana and Bluegrass, and quickly put together many more songs that suited them, and that they loved playing.

Sometimes they do dual harmonies all the way through, sometimes Sarah wails some riffs on the soprano sax while Rob sings. Some songs are a little jazzy, some are a little cheeky.

Whatever genre this could be slotted into… it works for Something Blue.

“This duo proves that the UK can rival points in deep south America when it comes to rootsy country. More substantial than standard country radio fare, and more drinking-and-twanging than alt.country, they are lyrically poignant, musically tight descendants of traditional country mixed with folk and bluegrass.” MAVERICK MAGAZINE.
