The Fishpond Presents: STAGEFRIGHT COMEDY CLUB hosted by Anthony J Brown

Chris Ramsey

‘One of the best’ – The Times

‘This boy is going to be a star’ ★★★★ – The Telegraph

‘Brilliantly engaging natural storyteller… Ramsey is so skilful that he feels distinctive’ ★★★★ – Evening Standard

‘A natural comedian, with funny bones able to make even the mundane hilarious… breathlessly entertaining’ ★★★★ – Chortle

Chris is the fastest rising new act on the UK comedy circuit having been nominated for the Fosters Comedy Award (formerly the Perrier) for Best Show at the Edinburgh Festival 2011. He has supported Al Murray on his UK theatre tour as well as having undertaken his own debut solo touring show around Britain in 2012, which has been a sold out critical success.

He has a positive slew of television credits including 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Argumental, Jason Manford’s Comedy Rocks, Celebrity Juice, Russell Howard’s Good News, Richard Bacon’s Beer And Pizza Club and Show And Tell as well as playing the lead role in the forthcoming BBC sitcom Hebburn with Vic Reeves. He is also developing his own show for BBC3 entitled @ChrisRamsey.
He will be previewing material from his forthcoming Edinburgh 2012 show Feeling Lucky.

Scott Bennett

‘A definite star of the future’ – Huddersfield Examiner

Old Speckled Hen Comedian Of The Year 2010 and Comedy Cellar Yorkshire Comedian Of The Year 2011.

A generous helping of wonderfully witty comic observations about life’s little quirks, relationships and human behaviour. Served by a Yorkshireman with relentless enthusiasm and boundless energy.

Sal Stevens

‘A set that’s conversational, personal, and sometimes a bit sexual’ – Chortle

An instantly engaging presence, Stevens displays a somewhat flamboyant flair for the craft of quality stand-up. Not one word or gesture is wasted in his compelling and rib-tickling performance.

Steve Goodall

‘He stormed the gig with well observed tales of parenting and unfortunate lookalikes delivered with an easy charm that strongly suggests he is an act to keep an eye on’ – bbc.co.uk

Resident Compere – Anthony J Brown

‘A truly unique performer…superb’ – Reece Shearsmith (‘The League Of Gentlemen’)

‘Shed-loads of sublime one-liners’ – The List

Clad in a sartorially edifying manner, like a dapper and dandy funeral director, Anthony cuts a unique on-stage presence with humour blacker than a raven that’s slammed it’s claw in a coffin lid. And not the merest hint of profanity. The overall effect is both perversely hypnotic and wholly original, leaving the audience zealously hanging on to every syllable like turncoat lemmings on a rockface. Jongleurs/Metro “Stand & Deliver” Award winner and former BBC New Comedy Award Runner-up he is a regular contributor to
Radio 2’s “The Arthur Smith Lectures”. As seen on ‘The Stand Up Show’ and ‘Phoenix Nights’.
